Sonic Typeface for Sound Company

A sonic identity
In close collaboration with Nippon Design Center of Japan, Kontrapunkt designed a sound-sensitive typeface for Goertek, one of the largest acoustic components companies in the world. The dynamic typeface is intended for digital signage and wayfinding throughout Goertek’s groundbreaking R&D hub in Qingdao, China.

Global Brand Typeface

A groundbreaking typeface

Can you imagine a variable and dynamic typeface that reacts to its surroundings, rather than being a static element? This vision was the foundation for the typeface Kontrapunkt designed for Goertek. Using variable fonts we have created a “moving” typeface. Based on surrounding sounds, the typeface vibrates in different frequencies and waveforms. The result is innovation and opens up entirely new possibilities within typography and typeface design.

A typeface that reacts to sound

Using Goertek’s heritage as a reference point, the variable typeface adapts to the surrounding elements by using advanced Opentype technologies.

A visual voice that guides

Always aiming to be informative and relevant, the variable signage typeface dynamically changes appearance by vibrating in different frequencies and wave types, echoing electronic oscillators.
